REPORTING TO                 Retail Operations Manager

PRINCIPLE DUTIES                    

The TGP Urban Retail Manager will work to improve the organization, coordination and management of the Gold Bar and Ottewell grocery stores. This position is responsible for all aspects of operating a successful grocery retail. You will play a key role in supervision, scheduling, developing and leading your direct reports, safety, finance and control, ordering, receiving, inventory management and merchandising. You will provide passionate, hands on leadership that supports Gold Bar and Ottewell Grocers in achieving their goals. You will lead the development of customized action plans for the stores that identify areas of opportunity and growth, with the support of the retail operations team. This includes TGP marketing programs, forecasting, and budgeting.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Document opportunities and deficiencies on sales, margins, expense control, department efficiency, inventory controls, merchandising and marketing standards, security and government regulations. Then develop an action plan to correct all items in a timely matter.
  • Organizing, co-ordination and management of the entire store, while maintaining a strong communication link with immediate supervisors.
  • Executing and coordinating in-store merchandising plan around TGP marketing programs including weekly flyer, seasonal ads, super saver, private label and everyday best value.
  • Pricing merchandise in all departments in accordance with company philosophies regarding competitive pricing and budgeted margins.
  • Ensuring the code of conduct is followed by all staff members’.
  • Lead and ensure the TGP safety program is followed and championed by all team members.
  • Promote ongoing training, and succession planning in all departments in the retail.
  • Develop a recruitment strategy to provide optimal staffing for the retail.
  • Actively promote TGP brand and values in the community, building good community relationships while improving the customer shopping experience.
  • Supervision of approximately ten Department Managers

 

REQUIREMENTS                

  • 10 years’ experience in a retail food store
  • Two year business diploma
  • Food safety certification would be an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self starter with ability to work with others or independently
  • Excellent reliability and attendance record
  • Demonstrate ability to think proactively and be a problem solver
  • Ability to demonstrate coaching skills and abilities
  • Microsoft office computer experience
  • Open availability (days, evenings, weekends etc.
