2017 Canadian Food Championships

The Canadian Food Championships (CFC) was held downtown Churchill Square in conjunction with the Taste of Edmonton festival this past weekend from July 21st – 23rd, 2017. As the proud pantry supplier for the third year in a row, we were elated and honoured to cheer on Canada’s best and brightest culinary talent from the sidelines.

The competition included the likes of top executive chefs, home cooks and even a couple of aspiring youngsters from across the country. We had especially high hopes for Cassandrea Gascoyne, local food blogger and winner of TGP’s ‘Search for Canada’s Best Burger’ contest. But unfortunately, the well-balanced, relatable burger recipe that won Cassandrea a place at the CFC table, didn’t make it on to compete in the second round. While Cassandrea was disappointed, she really enjoyed the experience and opportunity to compete!

After three jammed packed days, full of ups and downs, food and fun, we were thrilled to congratulate the competitors that earned a place on Team Canada and that will would go on to compete at World Food Championships in mid-November in Orange Beach. Alabama.

The first-place finalists include:

  • Seafood: Said Addamchi
  • Burger: Rusty Johnson
  • Chicken: Neil Krog
  • Steak: Stephen Perrin
  • Dessert: Abhishek Patil
  • Sandwich: Sheshona John
  • Bacon: Earl Briones

We donated all the left-over and unused supplied items to Edmonton’s Food Bank.  For more details about the Canadian Food Championships visit: http://canadianfoodchampionships.ca/talent/competition-results
