The Bakery Manager, Lianne Theroux at TGP Gold Bar competed in the Canadian Food Championships over the weekend and placed 4th in the dessert category.
The Canadian Food Championships, held downtown Edmonton in conjunction with the Taste of Edmonton Festival, showcased Canada’s culinary talent in a three day competition (July 22-24, 2016). Amateurs and professional chefs alike from across the country went head-to-head to qualify for the World Food Championships to be held in Orange Beach, Alabama this coming November. First place winners in each category (Bacon, Burger, Steak, Sandwich, Seafood and Dessert) earned a spot on Team Canada along with over $50,000 in cash and prizes.
Mark Danyluk, TGP Retail Operations Manager stated,  “Lianne and Maria [Lianne’s helper] are rock stars! They went up against some of Canada’s best culinary talent in the dessert category and placed 4th. We’re extremely fortunate to have them on our team at TGP Gold Bar.” Lianne made an orange zest cheesecake with fresh fruit and raspberry drizzle in the preliminaries and a blueberry, Market Town double brie cream cheese tart for the finals.  
For the second year in a row, TGP Foodservice was the official pantry supplier and provide the competitors with all their ingredients.
